United States Post Office and Courthouse, Yakima, Washington

Date added: August 29, 2010 Categories: Washington Courthouse

Historically the monumental Beaux Arts Structure has always served as Yakima Main Post Office and Federal Courthouse. The Federal Bureau of Investigation and the U.S. Immigration and Naturalization Service also have been housed throughout the years in this historical structure.

The carefully detailed Beaux Arts monumentality makes a major contribution to the diversity of Architecture In Yakima, especially as it relates to a balance of styles with the adjacent Historic Register Structure - The Capitol Theatre.

In 1926 a one story 58' x 22*-6" annex addition was added to the original 1911 building. In 1938 the 1926 addition was demolished and a major new addition was constructed on the east as described above; shape and dimensions of structure.
